This Wiki Thing!

Well I have just spent a fair bit of time on the wiki part of our course and ............... it's GREAT and very addictive, you could spend hours just looking for new wiki's and adding your comments on them. So i decided to stop and look at the next part of the course, hope it's as fun as this part!

RSS, FLIKR and WIKI

Well I have just spent the last 2 hours trying to get the hang of this RSS thing and doing this at work is not the best idea, but until the computer at home is sorted I have got no choice! One day I am sure it will sink in, mind you I did like the Wiki thing and thought that was very interesting and could see how it could be of use to use here. As you will see, I did manage to get an RSS link on my page but unfortunatly it was for a dog thing........ I suppose it does show I did it even if it was with something not remotely about work or my interests! The flikr thing, if I could work that out would be good, especially as one of my interests is scrapbooking but I am sure with more practice that willl come too...............why did GOD not give me the ability to know these things straight away.....because it's fun to learn and boy am I learning, it may take longer than some but it will sink in and remain in! Tune in for the next edition soon.

"Origin of the Species"

As Smiley has mentioned in her blog, we were very lucky here in Tumbarumba to receive a visit from Paul Brunton, curator of the State Library of NSW, come to visit us. He brought along with him a newly aquired copy of the book "Origin of the Species" by Charles Darwin. It was great to see so many people visit our little library and come to listen to the very informative talk that was given by Paul. Many Many thanks to Paul for allowing Smiley and myself to have a hold of this very old (published in 1859) and expensive (cost around $180,000) book, it was an experience that I will never forget. Mind you I did pay a small price for that......I had to get out of bed early and go get the book from the secure holding place at 6.45am the nect morning! (It was worth it though!)

SuperHero's Party

As you can see, Smiley and I like to dress up in our Library. These costumes were for our end of the Summer Reading Club party, we got all the kids to dress up as there favourite superhero. Of course we couldn't be biased so we made our own costumes and came as "Super Librarians"

The kids had a great time (and so did we!) they played games on the lawn and had party food. Once in a while this is a good idea and it keeps the kids coming!

I think I am learning a few things.....but as I said before it can be confusing, hopefully tomorrow everything will look much easier.....I can't guarantee that though only time will tell!
Hi Guys,

Well this is it...my first listing on my very first blog!!

I have set this blog up as part of an internet based course I am working on through my work with the UMRL, it still seems a little confusing but I am sure that the more I use it the more confident I will become and maybe one day I may even leave something for someone else........ooooh a scary thought!
And you never know....if your reading this you may want to leave me a comment, if you don't thanks for reading it, I hope it gets more interesting for you on your next visit!
